Post Thanksgiving Fitness Tips

Hey everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with lots of wonderful food, family, friends, love, and so much to be thankful for. We had a great day filled with lots of eating (mostly of Pumpkin Cheesecake and Cranberry Salad-seriously those things are to die for) and found ourselves quickly slipping into a food coma. It also didn't help that we hosted a Thanksgiving party and were left with all the delicious food. Our family will now be stuck eating Thanksgiving food for the next week at least which is delicious, but maybe not the healthiest. Come on, its hard to say no to Pumpkin cheesecake, not that we would ever want to. Instead, both of us decided to finally motivate ourselves to get more active and now we are sharing some of our tips. Now, let's be real, we are by no means fitness experts, especially since we can barely ever convince ourselves to stop being lazy and actually workout (we're not the only ones, right?) but here is what we have to say, so if you need some motivation, keep reading!

You do not need to go to the gym to workout.
A lot of people lose all willpower to go workout when they hear the word "gym." The gym can sometimes be too far away, too expensive, or even just not the right environment for some people. This being said, there are multiple ways you can exercise at your house, even if you do not have equipment. We like finding workout videos on YouTube like Blogilates (which are awesome, might we add!) and just follow their exercises.

Upbeat music will help you stay more active.
Putting on some good tunes while you workout is definitely a good idea, and the more upbeat, happy, and fast-paced, the better. Now, we are in no way trying to bash on the slow
songs, there is just a different time and place for them. The happy music will make you feel happier and more energetic, which will help you get the most out of your workout. There is probably an abundance of great fitness/exercise playlists out there that you can listen to, or you can even choose to make your own. Who knows, we might even make one sometime soon and post it for you guys!

Stay hydrated.
Drinking a lot of water and other liquids will help keep you hydrated. This is extremely important at all times of the day but especially while working out. Not only will it keep you from cramping up while doing some more intense workouts, but it will also keep your metabolism going at a faster rate. This also clears your skin up a bit which is an added bonus!

Invest in some quality workout clothes.
The logic here is that if you buy yourself some workout clothes you really like and are excited about, they might tempt you to actually workout. I mean you will want to get some use out of them, right? It is definitely worth the investment.

Make exercising fun.
A lot of people dread working out, but it doesn't have to be like that. You can customize your workouts to things you enjoy doing. You can make them fun. For example, why not have a dance party? Dancing and completely jamming out is a great form of exercise. Get some friends together and have some fun. another great way to exercise is going on a run with some friends, or even just taking a walk in the park. Workouts are great, but there are other ways to stay active that you can make quite enjoyable.

Sneak exercise into your daily routine.
There are lots of little things you can do to incorporate activity in your day. Being "too busy' is no longer an excuse. For example, we like to do squats, lunges, and wall sits every day while brushing our teeth instead of just standing there. Another idea is to take the stairs instead of the elevator. These are random, we know, but think of some ways you can add a little more exercise in your day.

Do not exercise right after eating.
This is a common mistake we see many other people around us making. After eating, it is always best to let your food properly digest which will not happen if you do an intense workout. Also, if you aren't full while exercising, you will feel much lighter and better with the intensity. Get some rest after you eat and don't immediately go workout.

Set goals.
This is for a more long-term fitness plan, but nevertheless always a good idea. Setting goals for yourself is so motivating. That way you can always remember what you are working towards. You are more likely to succeed if you set goals. Also, you can reward yourself for reaching your goals which is another great way to stay motivated.

That's it for today! We hope some of these tips gave you ideas or some sort of motivation! Also, since Thanksgiving just passed, we wanted to say how thankful we are for this blog and all our viewers. This blog has already started to give us so many incredible opportunities and we are ever so grateful. There is so much to be thankful for, thanks to all of you! We hope you all have lots to be thankful for.

xoxo
