Trying to constantly put on a happy face when you really aren't is a task in itself. You don't have to pretend like you've got it together or that you are happy all the time. That's not how life works. If you're having a bad day, that's okay. The worst thing to do is bottle up your emotions and pretend you're okay when you're hurting inside.
The past does not define you.
So what if you did something you're not proud of? That doesn't mean you should let it consume you. Let go and learn from it. Ultimately, you are the decider of your actions and therefore you can change and grow as a person every single day.
Failure does not exist. Only learning opportunities do.
We've had our fair share of "failures" that we truly labeled as such. But why? All that does is make us feel worse. You can always improve as long as you view your "failures" as learning opportunities and take a moment to reflect on what went wrong so you can be more successful next time.
Give yourself the chance to be happy.
Plain and simple: Don't stand in the way of your own happiness. Give yourself the chance to experience joy and be happy!
You are YOU for a reason.
So much of our (everyone as humans) lives is spent on comparing ourselves to others. You are you for a reason though. You weren't born to be the same as the random person you see in public or your best friend. You were born to be you. You are unique and you are a contribution to the world, whether you realize it or not.
It's never too late.
This is true for so many things. If you regret something you said to someone, tell them that you're sorry even if a lot of time has passed. Or if you've always wanted to do something that you just haven't gotten around to or haven't had the opportunity to do, go do it. It is never to late to try new things, improve yourself, or say sorry for something.
Spend time learning about yourself.
Experiences shape you as a person and through those experiences, you learn a lot about yourself. Many times you find something in yourself that you never knew about, whether that be good or bad. It's important to reflect on those experiences and take something away from each one.
Express yourself without the fear of being judged.
You aren't the bad or flawed one. Society is. Never be afraid to let your true self shine because you were placed on this world for a reason. People will always have their opinions (good and bad). But you can make the decision to pay more attention to what you think of yourself rather than what others think of you. At the end of the day, if you're happy with who you are, that's what really matters.
Things change. You change.
Humans fear change. And that can sound cliché but it is so true. Humans fear the unknown and when things start to change, they often close their doors and try to hold on to the things they know and are comfortable with. You won't stay the same forever. You are a different person than you were 2 years ago, 2 months ago, 2 days ago, even 2 minutes ago. We are constantly changing, growing, and learning new things about the world. And guess what? That is perfectly normal.
Pursue your passions.
We are always told that we are passionate about the wrong things or that our career goals are a recipe for disaster or that we are wasting our time doing the things we love. This is not right. At the end of the day, the only regrets you'll have are the things you missed out on or the chances you didn't take. Your personal happiness is so incredibly important and valuable. Don't let others tell you that you can't or shouldn't do something that you love.
Your opinions matter. You are significant.
We've heard way too many people say that their opinions don't matter because they are insignificant. FALSE. Each and every person is born into this planet with the right to form personal opinions and voice them. I guess what we're trying to say is that just because you aren't the president or you aren't famous, that doesn't mean that you and your opinions don't matter.
